The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment (OCTFME) presents its new Summer Television Programming at UPFRONT Presentation

The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) showcased a variety of original and licensed programming at the Summer Programming Upfront presentation, Wednesday, May 23, at OCTFME studios providing DC residents and media an advance viewing of Summer programming. film.JPG

The sneak preview was well received by the crowd and featured specials, live coverage, entertainment, music, news, conservation, community service, and culturally and educationally diverse content for all ages. In addition, OCTFME highlighted content created by District residents, as well as, the opportunity to meet the programming team and the talent who host some of the shows.  The Agency’s programming goal is to support government programs, education and employment initiatives, and the DC community and advance the District’s film, television, music and entertainment industries.

OCTFME creates award-winning programming for the District of Columbia Network (DCN), the District Council Channel (DCC)  and the District Knowledge Network (DKN). These channels are distributed by Comcast, RCN, and Verizon. The new line-up will provide District residents informative, educational and entertainment programming and provide unparalleled opportunities to connect and better serve the community media needs of the 700,000 plus DC Residents.

The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment has recently won several awards for its original programming. OCTFME is the proud recipient of a 2018 Capital Emmy Award Nomination, by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, National Chesapeake Bay Chapter (NATS-NCCB) for “The 202.” “The 202” is a compliment to Mayor Muriel Bowser’s 202 Creates initiative led by the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment. They were also recognized by National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA)  as the Agency  received  multiple awards including 2nd Place in overall network programming, Best Public Affairs Broadcast for “State of The District” and best Talk Show for “The 202.”

This new season continues the expansion of OCTFME programming with a balanced mix of new episodes from returning shows and new programs. Here is a sample of the programming slate.

DC Black Pride - DC Black Pride takes a look back at the response to the HIV/Aids epidemic that impacted the Black Gay community in the District. This special also offers an insightful look at the struggles and the triumphs still affecting the city’s Black LGBTQ community.
