DC Filmmaker Hanibal Chancellor Honored as December 2015 Filmmaker of the Month

DC filmmaker honored for extraordinary contribution to the film community
December 2015 Filmmaker of the Month- Hanibal Chancellor

Washington, DC–The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment is pleased to to honor Transitions web and television series producer, director and writer Hanibal Chancellor as the December Filmmaker of the Month.

Hanibal Chancellor is a Washington, DC filmmaker and CEO of DC-based multimedia entertainment company Overdose Entertainment. After spending years producing music and distributing urban content and documentary films, Chancellor ventured into filmmaking when he created and directed his new web and upcoming television series titled Transitions, which stars former The Wire actors Anwar Glover and Trey Chaney and former NBA star Delante West. 

Chancellor gained set experience as an actor on studio films such as SouthPaw, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and 50 Cent, and Will Smith’s Concussion, as well as Netflix’s hit series House of Cards where he picked up some pointers from famed directors such as Antoine Fuqua and Peter Landesman.

OCTFME launched the Filmmaker of the Month initiative to feature a District-based filmmaker who exemplifies the vast amount of talent and creativity based here in the nation’s capital. The Filmmaker of the Month initiative is part of OCTFME’s mission to elevate the national and international profile of the city’s most talented filmmakers. Previous filmmakers honored include ThinkFilm producer Jonathan Zurer; Fatback Films Founder Be Steadwell; and veteran award-winning husband and wife filmmakers Marilyn and Hal Weiner.
