Banquet and Conference Center recognized for stunning views of the US Capitol Building

The DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development is pleased to recognize, Top of the Hill, in Northeast Washington as the May 2014 One City Location of the Month. The banquet and conference center, located in the Reserve Officers Association (ROA) Minuteman Memorial Building, is the closest public venue to the Capitol Building and the U.S. Supreme Court. Sitting at the intersection of First Street and Constitution Avenue, NE, the venue offers stunning views of some of the District’s most recognized landmarks.

The building offers a variety of spaces including the Atrium, Symposium Center and Minuteman Ballroom, that can meet various filming and event needs. The Atrium, which is approximately 1,800 square feet, can serve as a reception area for as many as 200 people or provide a more intimate backdrop for 60 guests with an option to use the outdoor patio with views of the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court.

The Symposium Center accommodates up to 44 in theater style and can replicate a venue ideal for lobbying activities or preparation for Congressional testimony. Additionally, the 1,800 square foot Minuteman Ballroom, sitting on the fifth floor of the building, offers alternate but equally spectacular views of the Capitol Dome and Senate Office Buildings.  ROA also will provide roof access for still photo, film, and television angles, which offers one-of-a-kind panoramas as yet unseen. The rooftop provides a 360 degree vantage point of the U.S. Capitol, Senate and House Office Buildings, Union Station, the National Mall, and all the way across the Potomac River into Rosslyn from one location.

The Minuteman Memorial Building is owned by the Reserve Officers Association, a non-profit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress to educate the public on matters that affect national security and global stability, while serving as the nation’s leading advocate for Reservists and their families.

In 2011, the DC Film Office launched One City Location of the Month to bring attention to the wide range of varied, cinematically compelling locations that are available to film and television productions. Former One City Location of the Month recipients include Yards Park in Southeast, the Deanwood Neighborhood in Northeast, Arena Stage in Southwest, and the National Building Museum in Northwest.
