OCTFME Recognizes Harold Jackson as the August 2015 Filmmaker of the Month

Harold Jackson III is an Emmy-nominated producer and winner of the Emerging Filmmaker award at the North Carolina Black Film Festival (NCBFF).

Jackson’s most recent feature film Last Night, released in December, was awarded best feature/ screenplay at the North Carolina Black Film Festival and the American Black Film Festival, where it also won an Audience Choice award. The film, which has already been screened in multiple states, is a romantic drama/comedy about how a model's last night in Washington, DC turns from uneventful into an unexpected love triangle.

Jackson’s next project, The Chair, is a scripted eight episode mini-series about a therapist that tries to help others despite struggling with his own demons. Some of his previous projects include Under the Bourbon Moon (2013), Burn: The Evolution of an American City (2009) and Seemless (2007). Jackson’s films have won numerous awards from various film festivals including the Arizona Black Film Festival, the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, the Hollywood Black Film Festival, the American Black Film Festival and the North Carolina Film Festival.

Harold is currently based in Washington, DC where he received his master’s degree at American University and is currently a proud resident of Ward 1

The Filmmaker of the Month initiative is part of MPTD’s mission to elevate the national and international profile of the city’s most talented filmmakers. Previous filmmakers honored include ThinkFilm producer Jonathan Zurer; Fatback Films Founder Be Steadwell; and veteran award-winning husband and wife filmmakers Marilyn and Hal Weiner.
