Mayor Bowser to Launch DC Radio

Monday, September 18, 2017

On Tuesday, September 19, at 6:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch DC Radio, a non-commercial radio station that will provide information and programming on government resources, emergency updates, news, community affairs, education, current events, arts, music, and entertainment as part of 202Creates – a citywide effort to showcase the District’s diverse and vibrant creative community through an array of events throughout the month of September. Managed and broadcast from the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME), DC Radio will kick-off the broadcasting partnership between WHUR and the District – which will be one out of two municipally-owned full power radio stations in the country.

202Creates highlights artists, makers, tastemakers, and entrepreneurs who contribute to the city’s creative economy. Led by DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) and DC Commission on Arts and Humanities (CAH), 202Creates engages residents through events and activities that feature the various talents of the DC creative community from television, film, music, arts, dance, fashion, cosmetology, culinary, tech and much more.
