OCTFME RECOGNIZES MAKETTO AS THE JULY 2025 LOCATION OF THE MONTH

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

(Washington, D.C.) – The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) is proud to recognize Maketto as the July 2025 Location of the Month. A cornerstone of the H Street NE corridor, Maketto has become one of DC’s most distinctive and dynamic spaces—serving as a cultural destination for food lovers, creatives, filmmakers, and the community at large.

“Maketto embodies the creative soul of the District,” said LaToya Foster, Director of OCTFME. “From its celebrated cuisine and commitment to community to its versatility as a production and event space, Maketto is a true DC original. Erik Bruner-Yang and his team have created more than a venue—they’ve built a hub for expression, innovation, and storytelling right in the heart of the city.”

Maketto is equal parts restaurant, café, bar, and retail space, and is also home to Chef Erik Bruner-Yang’s Power of 10 nonprofit initiative. Its clean, contemporary design—featuring a glass-encased sneaker wall, mural-lined courtyard, and lush tree canopy—makes it a standout filming and events location. Maketto has hosted everything from pop-up weddings to album release parties, including those for local star Ari Lennox, and has been featured on hit television shows such as Somebody Feed Phil, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate.

“Maketto is honored to be recognized as OCTFME’s Location of the Month,” said Erik Bruner-Yang, Founder, Owner, and Chef. “Our space has always been a home for creativity and community—hosting everything from weddings and pop-ups to national TV productions. As someone who has called NE DC home for over twenty years, I’m so grateful for this recognition and excited to keep sharing Maketto with the city we love.”

Located at 1351 H Street NE, Maketto continues to welcome visitors daily with coffee, pastries, and its signature Taiwanese-Cambodian menu, including its beloved five spice caramel fried chicken. Its weekly Saturday Bake Sale remains a popular fixture for locals and newcomers alike.
