Washington, DC – The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) has named THE SPACE as the April 2026 Location of the Month, one of the District’s most versatile and production-friendly venues located in the heart of Chinatown.
Designed as a modern, 12,000 square foot blank canvas, THE SPACE offers an expansive, industrial-inspired environment that can easily transform to support film, television, commercial shoots, large-scale creative productions, and experiential activations. With soaring ceilings, exposed architectural elements, and an open, flexible floor plan, the venue provides a dynamic backdrop that can easily transform to meet a wide range of creative visions.
“THE SPACE represents exactly the kind of forward-thinking production-friendly environment we are proud to highlight through our Location of the Month initiative. Its scale flexibility, and central location make it an incredible asset for filmmakers choosing Washington, DC. We are excited to continue spotlighting spaces that empower creativity and attract dynamic productions to our city,” said OCTFME Director and Film Commissioner, LaToya Foster.
From a production standpoint, THE SPACE is equipped to accommodate convenient street-level loading dock, complex builds, lighting rigs, and staging while maintaining clear sightlines and seamless flow. Its central downtown location also provides convenient access to hotels, restaurants, and public transportation – making it an ideal hub for both local and visiting productions.
