Veep, a new comedy series from HBO, will begin filming in the District today. Set in the nation’s capital, Veep stars actor Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former Senator Selina Meyer, who becomes Vice President, only to discover the job is nothing like she expected, but everything she was warned about. Louis-Dreyfus is expected for the first day of filming.
Veep filmed some of the pilot in the District in late March and Mayor Vincent C. Gray spoke with HBO executives in Los Angeles in late July about filming more of the television series in the District. Filming will take place today and Saturday and is expected to return to the District for additional filming the first part of November. The series will air in 2012.
