OCTFME RECOGNIZES LATRICE AMANDA STRONG AS THE MARCH 2024 FILMMAKER OF THE MONTH

Thursday, March 14, 2024

Washington, D.C. – The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCFTME) proudly announces LaTrice Amanda Strong as the March 2024 Filmmaker of the Month. LaTrice Amanda Strong is a talented screenwriter, producer, and actress from the District of Columbia who has made a significant contribution to the film industry.

LaTrice Amanda founded Bird Out Of The Cage Productions, formerly known as A LaTrice Production, and has written and produced award-winning films that have become official selections at national and international film festivals. Her extensive educational background includes a Master of Arts in Creative Writing with a specialization in Television and Film from Full Sail University (2012) and a Doctoral candidate focusing on academic curriculum design.

Director LaToya Foster states that “LaTrice Amanda Strong is an exceptional talent in the film industry. Her passion for filmmaking and storytelling has led to award-winning films that have become official selections at national and international film festivals. LaTrice's dedication and commitment to the craft are truly inspiring and serve as a reminder to pursue one's passions with determination and hard work.”

LaTrice Amanda is also the founder of Honor U Performance Arts Academy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. She holds the title of Operational Program Director and uses her skillset to develop programming geared towards awakening adolescent youth's minds, bodies, and souls by incorporating the performance arts and personal development skills into the next generation of young artists.

LaTrice Amanda has revealed that her adoration for screenwriting began at a young age, surpassing the realm of dolls and toys. Instead, she found solace in her active imagination, creating stories that would transport her to worlds beyond her own. With a pen in hand, she took on the role of the architect of her narratives, weaving tales that came to life on the page and painted vivid pictures in her mind. Using the power of her words, she discovered the ability to bring characters to life, and breathe vitality into their stories. In those moments, she recognized how great a gift it was to be blessed with the ability to be a storyteller.

"I am truly honored and humbled to be recognized as filmmaker of the month by OCTFME. The recognition validates my passion and dedication to the craft. I aim to create stories that unite communities, inspire change, celebrate love, and address important topics and factual issues that impact the African American community," says LaTrice.

LaTrice Amanda's passion for filmmaking and storytelling has made her an exceptional talent in the industry. The OCFTME is proud to recognize her as the March 2024 Filmmaker of the Month and looks forward to seeing her future accomplishments in the field of film.
