District of Columbia locations under federal jurisdiction resume normal film, video, and still photography permitting operations

Commercial filming activity on federal public spaces and federally managed buildings suspended during the federal government shutdown are now available and accepting permit applications.

During the federal government shutdown, public lands managed by the Interior Department (National Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, Bureau of Land Management facilities, etc.) were closed and unavailable for commercial filming. Areas and locations impacted by the shutdown included but were not limited to: The White House, the U.S. Capitol Building, and the National Mall including the Monument and surrounding memorials.

These restrictions have been lifted and normal permitting operations have resumed. Any questions about film, video, or still photography permitting in the District of Columbia can be directed to the Office of Motion Picture and Television Development at 202-727-6608.
