The Office of Motion Picture and Television Development (MPTD) announced today it will begin accepting applications for the Film DC Economic Incentive Fund. This will mark the first time in more than five years that funds will be made available for disbursement. There is currently $1.2 million allocated to the Film DC Economic Incentive Fund.

MPTD recently submitted emergency rulemaking required to align the regulatory language with the current Film DC Economic Incentive Law (D.C. Code § 39-501). These changes, which were published in the DC Register on May 15, make it possible for MPTD to administrate the Film DC Economic Incentive Fund.

The Film DC Economic Incentive Fund offers cash rebates for qualified productions in the District, equal to:

  • 42% of qualified production expenditures taxable in the District;
  • 21% of qualified production expenditures not taxable in the District;
  • 30% of qualified personnel expenditures;
  • 50% of qualified job training expenditures; and
  • 25% of infrastructure investments.

To qualify, an approved applicant must spend at least $250,000 in the District of Columbia on qualified expenditures, file an application and enter into an incentive agreement with MPTD, and not be delinquent in any tax obligation owed to the District of Columbia.

To apply for the FY2015 Film DC Economic Incentive Fund and for additional information regarding qualifications, please visit the Film DC Incentive Fund on the MPTD website. If you have any questions regarding the administration of the fund, please email [email protected] or call 202-727-6608.
