Native Washingtonian Anthony Greene is a self-described film lover. He began his career in film with the guerilla documentary After the Storm in 2007, which opened up the opportunity for him to direct the 2010 Pride in the Arts festival favorite award-winning documentary, Woman In A Man’s Suit. Since he began filmmaking, Anthony has written and produced eight short films, most notably the 2010 DC Shorts accepted “L1feline” and the 2011 World Music and Independent Film Festival accepted Plus One, which garnered Anthony his first best writer nomination. Also notable is his music composition work for which he won best music composition for Jon Gann’s 2010 48 Hour Film Project, Breathe.Focus.Octopus…
Anthony Greene takes extreme pride in the work he has done with many DC metropolitan area filmmakers. These works, for which he garnered a co-producer credit, include the QFest and Hardacre Film Festival “Best of Fest” award winning documentary, Married In Spandex; the 2011 48 Hour Film Project Best of the Best award recipient The Loose End; Maverick Entertainment’s 2013 release Dead Money; and multiple locally produced short films including Spin (2011), Under The Bourbon Moon (2013), Two Days (2013). He also created the IndieCapitol web series and entertainment hub featuring interviews with notable local filmmakers including Eduardo Sanchez, Ellie Walton, Jon Gann, Rohit Colin Rao, Justin Timpane, Frank Jackson Jr. and Women in Film and Video.
Breaking barriers with his work ethic and creativity, Anthony put in motion the first “A World at Work” film collection that screened privately and publicly featuring his collaborations with area filmmakers and the premiere of his narrative directorial effort Sleep (2011). He was also the creator of the “Art Behind the Art” Gallery Exhibition featured at Washington DC’s Blank Space gallery. In 2010, Anthony programmed and co-directed the East of The River Film Festival at Washington, DC’s THEARC Theater and currently programs and produces the Reel Independent Film Extravaganza at Washington, DC’s West End Cinema.
His newest projects are The Henchman’s War, which will have a limited engagement at West End Cinema September 20 – 26, and THICK, which will be premiere in October of this year.
