August 2013 Filmmaker of the Month - Jessica Stuart

Jessica Stuart is the founder and creative director of Long Story Short Media, Long Story Short Media, an independent creative consulting and producing firm, specializing in short form, multi-use content production and consulting. An award-winning producer and consultant, Jessica developed the motto “Content is Currency” for her business and her clients. Her combined past career experiences include NBC, The Today Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and ABC.

Jessica’s in-depth expertise in writing, booking, and field producing has honed her ability to identify and tell memorable stories. Focusing on content creation with intent and meaningful messaging, Jessica has produced a variety of content styles for audiences ranging from hundreds to millions.

Her work has taken her throughout the United States and abroad, interviewing thousands of individuals – including every living U.S. President, international Heads of State, celebrities, and everyday citizens appearing in front of an audience for the first time.

The LSS Media team has been chosen to produce videos for many high-profile projects focusing on global and domestic issues, with clients including: The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Global Network, ONE, The Global Campaign for Education, The World Bank, The Kaiser Family Foundation, The Clinton Foundation, The David Lynch Foundation, The Clinton Global Initiative, The Rainforest Foundation, USAID, U.S. CDC, PEPFAR, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and others. In addition to non-profit and foundation clients, LSS Media specializes in ongoing national campaigns for corporate social responsibility initiatives.

In just five years, LSS Media has earned a variety of nominations and awards, including six CINE Golden Eagle awards, a CINE Special Jury Award, seven Silver Telly Awards, six Bronze Telly Awards, a Webby Award and Webby People’s Voice Award, a “Fearless Storytelling” DoGooder nomination, an AEGIS Film and Video Production Award, two Silver Davey Awards, a Gold Davey Award, a MarCom Platinum Award, and an Emmy nomination.

LSS Media’s content has been seen online and on televisions around the world, in theaters, at galas, and at global summits. It believes that in production and storytelling, every moment matters. Jessica and her team recently produced the multi-platform campaign “Empowered with Alicia Keys”, along with the Kaiser Family Foundation and Griffin/Schein, to bring awareness to the issue of HIV/AIDS and women across the country, including Washington, D.C. In April, Long Story Short Media filmed Ms. Keys’ visit to Washington as part of a major policy launch with the Kaiser Family Foundation, the White House, members of Congress, and local HIV organizations and activists. LSS Media also filmed Ms. Keys’ visit to local hospital and clinic in Anacostia to meet with women in the District living with HIV, and to discuss the challenges and successes of accessing care and fighting stigma.

Other local projects include the “Unsung Heroes” video series and the “Making The Difference” video for Communities in Schools, the nation’s largest dropout rate prevention organization, based in Washington, D.C; the Washington Lab school gala videos; and content for the National Cherry Blossom Festival Centennial.

Jessica lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, David, and their children Alexander and Ella.
