The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music & Entertainment is a one-stop-shop for all of your needs—whether you are producing a major motion picture or television production, filming a documentary, or shooting a commercial or public service announcement. From initial scout to location wrap, we will work with you to understand your goals and provide the support you need to accomplish your vision. Our knowledgeable and experienced staff is here to help you with research and location scouting, permitting, parking and interagency coordination. We are also equipped to manage community relations, special event planning and promotions, and assist you with hotel, restaurant and transportation arrangements.

United States Capitol
Commercial filming is restricted at the US Capitol. The Capitol Police control the Capitol grounds, congressional office buildings, Library of Congress buildings, and the surrounding streets and sidewalks. Please call the US Capitol Police at (202) 224-8891 for additional information about filming at the Capitol, or visit them online here(https://www.uscp.gov/visiting-capitol-hill/activities-requiring-permits).

United States Supreme Court
For questions about filming exteriors of the Supreme Court building, please contact their Public Information Office via email at [email protected]

Metro
Please visit the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) website for additional information about filming at Metro locations.

Smithsonian
The Smithsonian Institute operates many of the city's museums and the National Zoo. To learn more about filming at the Smithsonian, visit the Smithsonian Institution Press Room website.

National Archives and Records Administration
The DC Film Office cannot permit filming at this location UNLESS you have prior permission directly from the PIO of the National Archive and Records Administration. Please contact the PIO office at  202-357-5000.
