Statement on September 2023 Revenue Estimates

Friday, September 29, 2023

(Washington, DC) – Today, the DC Government released the revised revenue estimates for the Fiscal Year 2023-2027 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The forecast for the entire financial plan, from FY23 through FY27, is revised upwards by $374 million in local fund revenue. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Bowser released the following statement:

“I feel grateful that as a community we’ve been able to work together to take our comeback seriously without forgetting about the most important part of our comeback: our people. We’ve had to make tough decisions, but we’ve also been able to think big and creatively about the future of our city. In the past several weeks, we’ve celebrated some milestones – with getting tourists back to DC and with ridership on Metro – and we’ve also welcomed new employers and organizations to DC. This weekend, we’ll welcome thousands of people to our city for festivals downtown. We’ll see people out in neighborhoods across all eight wards celebrating Art All Night and the culture of DC. And we’ll go into a new fiscal year, ready to continue executing our Comeback Plan, a plan that is both responsible and strategic. We’ve been strong stewards of taxpayer dollars, and that has allowed us to weather some tough storms. And right now, our comeback is critical and that is where our focus will remain.”
