Documentary Filmmaker Naeem Cobb Recognized as OCTFME May 2016 Filmmaker of the Month

Filmmaker of the Month Naeem Cobb May 2016The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment is pleased to designate documentary filmmaker Naeem Cobb as OCTFME’s May 2016 Filmmaker of the Month.

Video director and filmmaker Naeem “6ix Shoota” Cobb began his professional career in radio production & promotion, but got his start in filmmaking working as a camera operator and cinematographer on music videos for Tabi Bonney, a popular DC-based rapper. Cobb’s interest in videography evolved into an interest in directing and producing music videos on his own. Several of Cobb’s music videos have aired on popular cable networks MTV, VH1, & BET. Cobb has earned several filmmaking awards, including the 2010 DMV Award for ‘director of the year.’

Expanding his repertoire from music videos, Cobb went on to produce and direct commercials, event reels, promos & films, including official 2019 Sundance Film Festival selection, ‘Toe to Toe,’ staring The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green (which Cobb associate produced). Cobb is also the Washington, DC market production and media affiliate for Sean "P Diddy" Combs’ cable network Revolt where he has produced documentaries about the Baltimore riots in 2015 and Wale’s visit to the White House with President Obama in 2016.

Cobb continues to solidify his brand as the CEO of his own film company Forever Media. With more than 20 nationally syndicated music videos that include 3-time Grammy nominated R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn, chart topping rapper Wale and a successful short film to his credit Cobb isn’t finished. Cobb’snext project is a documentary film about legendary Washington, DC skateboarder Darren Harper.

Cobb is a resident of Ward 5.
